ACC’s Academic Affairs has transition from Areas of Study to Schools effective academic year 2026-2027. The 2026-2027 Catalog reflects the new nomenclature. Any additional updates will be provided online, once they are made available.

Each School provides programs of study that consist of degree and certificate awards, or pathways, designed to help you meet your academic and career goals by offering simplified, streamlined, and targeted course selection. These pathways are intended to help you register for the courses you need to stay on a path to completion and success — they provide assigned advisors, academic support, career-related extracurricular activities, and engaging student life activities.

You must choose a program of study when you apply to ACC; however, you can change to another if your interests or goals change. You should choose a program of study that best fits your transfer and career plans. Your advisor can help you select the appropriate program of study that best meets your needs and goals.

You are required to declare a major within your selected program of study before the end of your first semester at ACC. If you are receiving financial aid, you must declare a major upon application to the College in order to receive your funds. To declare or change your major, contact Academic Advising.
