Value Statement

The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) promotes a safe environment where students’ rights are respected and supported and responsibilities are recognized. ACC encourages students to be active members of the education community and to conduct themselves in a manner that respects the rights, dignity, and safety of others. In this supportive space, students can:

    • Examine and question information in their fields and
    • Challenge assumptions based on scholarly research
    • Engage in open discussion

This value comes with a significant responsibility that a student must uphold.

Administrative Rule

Acceptable standards of conduct include behavior that:

    • Academic Integrity
      Demonstrates honesty and integrity both in and out of class, maintains the highest ethical standards both on and off campus, including distance learning environments, discussion boards, specialized programs, off-campus clinical rotations/fields, internships, testing centers, and proctor services,
    • Respect for Others and the Community
      Treats all members of the ACC community with courtesy and civility; respects all members of the campus community, their property, and the property of the College,
    • Responsible Behavior
      Takes responsibility for personal actions and decisions; refrains from illegal use of alcohol, drugs, other substances, and weapons, and,
    • Mutual Respect and Safety
      Promotes equality and respect, for all ACC community members; contributes to a safe learning environment and condemn behaviors that harass, intimidate, or haze its members.
